Bob Schrader | Event Director | 0411 881 909QUIT Targa West would like to sincerely thank all the competitors and officials who gave so generously towards the Toodyay Volunteer Fire Brigades Appeal. It was a very successful appeal and all donations have now been passed to the Shire of Toodyay for distribution to the six volunteer brigades. Each brigade will receive a substantial donation and however they wish to use the money, we hope it goes some way in helping them while they are so busy helping others. Well done to all the Fire Brigade Volunteers in the Toodyay area, you did a great job under very trying conditions.

2009 Quit Targa West DVD Released

I'm sure most people would have watched the QUIT Targa West 2009 documentary which was broadcast right across Australia on Channel 7 at 2pm Saturday 3rd October.  That documentary forms the basis of the DVD production, however an additional 20 minutes of footage covering many more cars and extended in-car footage of some stages has been included to make the DVD a "must buy" for those interested in tarmac rallying.

Pitstop Bookshop now have supplies of the QTW 2009 (and earlier versions too) available for sale at $39.95. Pitstop run a very efficient mail order service for people who can't get into Perth.

Targa Petition to the Council

On Wednesday night 17th February I presented a petition with 483 signatures to the Chittering Shire Council's Ordinary Meeting calling for the Council to rescind its previous motion and allow the Targa West Rally to continue to operate in the Shire. At the same meeting the Council was asked if they had a register of opponents to the rally and the answer was "no". When asked how do they justify the statement that the majority of residents object to the rally, the Shire President referred to the results of the Council's Call for Comment which resulted in 74 against and 19 for the rally and could not provide any other evidence that could be substantiated.

Clearly, the TRUE majority of the peoples wishes can no longer be disputed. The Council should immediately rescind the previous motion and reinstate the approval to allow the rally to run in the Shire once again. If the Council does not act on this petition and reinstate the rally, then they are NOT representing the people of their community.
